As a graphic designer and marketing associate with this private school in Ojai, California, I planned and designed several advertising and fundraising campaigns as part of the Outreach team and designed materials for communicating with the community through print and social media. Alongside marketing and design efforts, developing relationships with local businesses and artists was integral to the work.
Open House
The Open House is the most important event for the school’s admissions, and a robust print and digital ad campaign is developed every year.
Prints ads in local publications, and fliers distributed through town were very effective tools in delivering the message to the immediate community.
For a farther reach a Facebook event was set up for RSVPs through digital ads targeted to families within commuting distance.
The Open House events routinely exceeded planned attendance.

Annual Report
The Annual Report is one of the most effective and consistent ways the school stays in touch with donors and alumni. Financial and leadership information is implicit but the report also provides a great opportunity to share the school’s successes and help supporters who may not be near the school feel engaged. When I took over the design of the report I began moving away it away from corporate/business aesthetic into something more dynamic and expressive, better reflecting the qualities that make the school special.
Fundraising Tea
Instead of the broadly reaching advertising of the Open House, the Fundraising Tea was directed toward established donors and members of the school community. Advertising was limited to mailed invitations which had been printed letterpress by a local artist. The goal of the design and event was to create an intimate atmosphere that invited a close and meaningful connection with the school.
